Some migrants (and others) in Lafayette Park

I was in Lafayette Park this morning between 9:15 and 11:00. It was hot and humid and fairly slow. List follows:

  • Northern Flicker
  • Rock Pigeon
  • Mourning Dove
  • Chimney Swift (1)
  • Empid sp. (2)
  • European Starling
  • Tufted Titmouse (heard only)
  • Carolina Wren (heard only—at least one was singing tirelessly)
  • Magnolia Warbler (2)
  • American Redstart
  • Chestnut-sided Warbler (first-fall female)
  • Common Yellowthroat (2, one female and one first-fall male)
  • Northern Cardinal (heard only)
  • Common Grackle
  • House Finch

One Response to Some migrants (and others) in Lafayette Park

  1. Weather maps show a huge, hot high pressure dome over the entire middle third of the country, with temps in the 90s up to the Canadian border.
