I was in Lafayette Park this morning between 9:15 and 11:00. It was hot and humid and fairly slow. List follows:
- Northern Flicker
- Rock Pigeon
- Mourning Dove
- Chimney Swift (1)
- Empid sp. (2)
- European Starling
- Tufted Titmouse (heard only)
- Carolina Wren (heard only—at least one was singing tirelessly)
- Magnolia Warbler (2)
- American Redstart
- Chestnut-sided Warbler (first-fall female)
- Common Yellowthroat (2, one female and one first-fall male)
- Northern Cardinal (heard only)
- Common Grackle
- House Finch
Weather maps show a huge, hot high pressure dome over the entire middle third of the country, with temps in the 90s up to the Canadian border.
